Recent Oxford farce, 3 psychiatric units tried for completely unresponsive
depressed gent of 80. 'Normal' psychiatric beds declined (too old).
Psychogeriatric hospital unable to locate a psychogeriatrician between 3pm
and 5pm, hospital CEO most apologetic but can't contact a
psychogeriatrician, locum secretary has no idea how to get hold of
consultants (they don't carry bleeps you see !). Bounced in ( with
apologies) to medical SHO at John Radcliffe at 5.30pm.
Now that's what I call a mental health service !! :-(
