This is going to be the pattern for the future. Right now the NHSE line
is: the patients' needs must be treated.
We say, fine, but if we follow EBM, the money will run out, and the voter
doesn't like that.
NHSE says, no problem lads, that's why we won't give you a 53% pay rise,
since you say the NHS is running out of money, why make it worse? We'll
keep you at 3% and the voters will be happy they aren't paying more tax
to keep you in the style to which you would like to be accustomed. And by
the way, don't go over budget.
The hard fact is, there ain't no votes in EBM. As for getting resources
to treat the elderly, we can forget it, because no-one is interested
besides us.
