There're a couple of annoying features about newsgroups that are less
common with a mailing list that you have to subscribe to. Such as:
"$$$MAKE MONEY FAST$$$"
"I have a headache. What should I do? Please e-mail as I don't read
this newsgroup."
"GNU Puke? What's that?"
"Call 900-HOTSEX now."
etc.
And, of course, all the lawyers, journalists and [*shudder*] software
engineers in the world will want to join in.
Plus, when suppliers descend into a flame-war about whether Gpass or AAH
Meditel have prettier screens (Hey, Ewan! Fancy a flame-war? :-)) the
list owners wouldn't be able to step in and do anything about it.
