I have been pulled up once for abbreviation and had to ask what an
abbreviation was. I wonder if we should either use less abbreviations or set
up a glossary file at GP-UK to be downloaded by non UK GP's (and physicists,
lurkers etc.)
I tried to start a list as follows;
Jargon Full wording/explanation Translation
MRE = Medical Record Envelope. The notes
URTI = Upper Respiratory Tract Infection A cold
Red Book = The DoH's legal document controlling UK GP's payments
DoH = Department of Health Big Brother aka
The thought Police
FHSA = Family Health Services Authority The people who pay us
Two problems arise, the formatting may produce a huge (or small) message on
other system (can we sort this one out as well) and in this should have
already been done several times over for teaching GP trainees (registrars). I
would be interested if anyone has a document with all this in [ Word 6 format
if possible].
