Dear Peter
I hesitate to say this in view of other entries, but we have
just started HARMONI (Harrow Medics Out of Hours Network Inc.!)
We employ grade G practice nurses using Decision support
telephone advice software (TAS) to triage calls to attend our
PCC, be given advice or to receive a visit from Healthcall. We
have been going two weeks now, and so far, with tremendous
caution and conservatism, 17% of calls get a visit,23% attend
the PCC and 60% get advice alone. All calls are recorded for
posterity and the patients own GP gets a fax of the encounter.
Telephone advice nurses are the fastest growing workforce in
American Health Care.
