Could these two not be the same thing, it doesn't take much to rename &
therefore break a thread. I'm not sure that Turnpike does lose threads
particularly though I think if people use a variety of mailers that may
be contributing to the problem as each will use different parts of the
header to pick up on. perhaps others can help me on this?

Try using "article" then "follow up article" to reply to the list.
