Hi Adrian
>4.4 Vaccines should not be stored in the door of the refrigerator - I suppose
>this makes some sense.
There was an outbreak of measles in the states a few years ago caused by vaccine
being stored in the door of a fridge which was never properly shut and this led
to dud vaccine giving no protection.
A new fridge can pay for itself if you register as a Yellow Fever giving site.
Certificate can be charged for but jag can't.
The last two TV programs I saw on Vaccination stated (rather embarassedly) that
Jenner would never have got James Phipps through an ethics committee. Any
others of this type? I suspect that Rev Stephen Hales would have got into
trouble with the RSPCA for tying a glass tube into the carotid of a mare and
getting 12 feet of pressure !
>17.3.4 discusses occupational exposure to sewage. Those exposed to raw
untreated sewage should (probably) be immunised against Hep A.
Note the *probably* - especially as 17.9.b suggests that cleaners of school
toilets should definitely seceive protection. Are school toilets cleaner than
sewers (on second thoughts I don't want to know the answer to that please)
Isn't it nice that an official publication is being discussed without rude words
!
Final thought. Being active with vaccinations in a small town means that you
can occasionally get the chance to stick a big pin in your bank manager. He's a
nice chap and saw the joke. He even came back to me and not a partner for
boosters.
Tom
