The Enhancing Audio Description (EAD) project is delighted to be hosting the symposium 'Removing barriers: disability and accessibility in the creative sector'. The event aims to delve into critical discussions surrounding disability and accessibility within various creative spaces.
Date: Saturday, 18th May 2024
Time: 10:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Location: Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh
Admission: Free of charge
The event will focus on different presentations, reflections and discussions on disability and accessibility within different creative spaces. We will be welcoming guest speakers as well as having a spotlight on the Enhanced Audio Description (EAD) methods, including an opportunity to listen to different examples and learn about the latest updates.

- Emily Beaney: Fluid Borders: Creative Collaboration and Collective Care in Moving Image Practice
- Sonia Allori: Capturing Sound and Music in Words - Using Captioning as Part of Performance Practice
- Aby Watson: A Dip into Disordering Dance: Riffing on Neurodivergent Choreography
- Amble Skuse: Embodied Sound - Sounds Different to Me
During the breaks there will also be a chance to experience work by artist Keith Salmon from his series Painting with Sound.
The EAD project has a commitment to environmental sustainability as a result we will be providing vegan and vegetarian catering. If this poses any problems or if you have any allergies we need to bear in mind please indicate so in the registration page or by simply answering to this email.

Accessibility information: The venue is wheelchair accessible with ramps, lifts and wide doorways. A hearing loop system is installed in the room and British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters will be available throughout the event. Furthermore, speakers have been requested to include visual descriptions in their presentations.
