SOAS Library is currently recruiting 3 x Collections Audit Assistants (full-time, 3-month fixed-term) to join our Special Collections team. The post holders will be expected to work as part of a team to deliver an audit and space management project focussed on Special Collections. They will gather data on the archive, manuscript, rare books, and object collections to aid in long-term collection management.

Salary: £22,681-£24,533 per annum Plus £4,519 London Weighting (pro-rata)
Location: Bloomsbury, London
Hours: 35 hours per week

About the Department: 
SOAS Library attracts scholars from around the world and has holdings of 1.3 million volumes and an excellent selection of online resources to support the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The Reader Services Team plays a vital role in welcoming our users and in managing access to the Library’s collections and spaces. Special Collections is responsible for the management of the Library’s archive, manuscript, and rare book holdings. This includes acquiring, cataloguing, and preserving the collections. The Special Collections team provides access to the collections through the reading room and an enquiry service. Special Collections works closely with other teams in SOAS Library as well as colleagues across SOAS.

About the Role
The post holder will be expected to work flexibly as part of a team to deliver an audit and space management project focussed on Special Collections. The post holder will capture data on collection items across the archive, manuscript, rare books and object collections to support their long-term collection management. 

The post holder will contribute to improving documentation of the storage of our collections and, based on these findings, to proposing and implementing more efficient and effective storage solutions.
