Dear Tharindu,
in my experience, word converstion to PDF in the last versions of the
software in Windows (Office 365) is quite good and should not create
these problems.
You may explore other sources of the problem:
- the word document has gone through many editions and changes
- the text comes from a copy paste from another source
Maybe you can share the document in this list and we can review it.
Best,

>Hi,

>I came across a document created with Word (has no accessibiltiy issues reported by Word) but when saved as PDF using "Save As" with selecting "document structure tags for accessibility" in the Options does not create a PDF with paragraphs tagged correctly.

>I noticed that numbered paragraphs are missed completely in the tagging when converted to PDF using Save As option. But headings are tagged.
>The same document saved with "Save as Adobe PDF", an option only available if Adobe Pro users, creates the PDF with correct tag structure.

>What Dov Isaacs doesn't say is that Adobe PDFMaker has even more issues than Microsoft's PDF generator. Both are buggy, but on balance Microsoft's is better. However, if your document contains certain types of content, PDFMaker may occasionally be the better choice.
>
>The bugs vary with time, so you just have to try both methods and see what you get. The Microsoft PDF generator is pretty stable, but PDFMaker is prone to reintroducing bugs that had been fixed previously.

>I recently saw a PDF with some weird tagging errors that were caused by insanely long style names in Word. After shortening the style names, the PDF exported perfectly. This might not be your problem, but it's indicative of the weird causes we encounter.
