Hi Elaine,
We provide foam ear plugs for in-person digital exams. We also allow students to bring their own noise blockers but they are not allowed to be Bluetooth enabled etc.
Kind regards,
Laura

Subject: Use of earbuds in exams for students with reasonable adjustments
Dear all
I would like to ask a quick question regarding use of earplugs/buds for exams.
Do any other institutions permit the use of earplugs/buds such as the types below as a reasonable adjustment for students because of their disability?
https://www.loopearplugs.com/products/switch
https://www.flareaudio.com/products/calmer
Previously we have only permitted foam ear buds on one off occasions however we are seeing a rise in requests from our disability team to use the ones above. These would be for students in single or small occupancy venues due to disability.
If you do permit the use what measures do you take to prevent any misconduct? For example you only allow a certain type, invigilator has to check that they cannot be connected to another device etc or if you strictly prohibit the use of these items for exams even in circumstances where it is stated as a reasonable adjustment.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
Regards
Elaine
