There are only a couple of week’s left to submit your abstract for the British Ecological Society’s summer symposium:
Resilient Landscapes for People, Nature and Climate: Connecting science and practice communities to create a roadmap for the future
24-25 June, University of Birmingham
https://www.britishecologicalsociety.org/events/resilient-landscapes-for-people-nature-and-climate/
This 2-day BES symposium at the University of Birmingham brings together practitioners and academia to support the creation of a more cohesive community around large-scale land, freshwaters and coastal/marine systems The event will encourage the sharing of best practice, promote more standardised and effective monitoring and evaluation approaches and support the development of new projects to enhance our evidence base and ensure the most impactful outcomes.
The event will include invited speakers from high-profile organisations, alongside speakers and posters selected from a Call for Abstracts process.
You can submit your abstract for one of four sessions:
Session 1: Setting the scene, underlying principles and ways of working
We are seeking some high-level introductory talks which will help set the scene as to what our overall purpose should be, new ways of working and underlying approaches which will help frame the discussions at the symposium and guide the community going forward.
Session 2: Upland and headwaters systems
Submissions from the projects focused in our upland and headwater systems. We appreciate many projects will include elements of both upland and lowland and just ask you to make your own judgement as to which the best session for you talk will be. Please note systems which link through to the coastal and marine system should be submitted to session 4.
Session 3: Lowland and rivers systems
We anticipate talks in this session will include more of our intensively farmed land than session 2 and perhaps include the testing and uptake of regenerative agriculture approaches. Please note: where a coastal/marine element is included to submit to Session 4.
Session 4: Linked land, estuaries and coast/marine systems
The session will focus on projects which include the flows and dependencies across the land and sea interface.
Submit your abstract by 4 April - https://www.britishecologicalsociety.org/events/resilient-landscapes-for-people-nature-and-climate/
