Hello all,
This is a reminder about our call for papers for the symposium organised by the SPA's employment policy group at the Social Policy Association Conference 2024.
The conference will be held at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow (Wed 3rd July to Friday 5th July).
The deadline for submitting an abstract for inclusion in the SPA Employment Policy symposium is 18th March.
General queries about the conference should be emailed to [log in to unmask] but please get in touch with Ceri and/or Katy if you have any questions about participating in the symposium.
We welcome submissions focussing on all areas related to employment policy, including papers on topics relating to:
• Employment protection, regulation, and enforcement;
• Industrial, skills and/or employment support policy, particularly in terms of how these attempt to address disadvantage;
• Attempts to increase access to good work, and/or demand-side interventions in the labour market;
• The relationship between employment and social security policy;
• Work-life “balance”, working-time policies and their impacts;
• Opportunities and challenges associated with in-work progression;
• The role of different actors in shaping employment policy;
• How employment policies play out across different places, or alongside other policies;
• UK employment policy in comparative and international perspective
We particularly welcome papers from early career researchers and can offer support in preparing for the session, and, if desired, mentoring from members of the Employment Policy group.
Please submit your abstract of 200-400 words to [log in to unmask] by 18th March 2024.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the co-leads for the Employment Policy group and we will be in touch by 25th March. Accepted contributors to the symposium will then submit their abstracts separately to the SPA noting the title of the symposium by the SPA’s deadline of 29th March.
