Dr Nora Wikoff is an Assistant Professor at the School of Social Policy at the University of Nottingham. Her recent work has focussed on the causal effects of numeracy on account ownership and saving. Her talk will review common interventions to help people save and consider the difficulties involved in delivery and evaluation.
Dr Richard Machin is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University. Prior to entering academia, he managed Derby City Council's Welfare Rights and Money Advice service, and he continues to work with charitable organisations to reduce poverty. His talk will focus on a recent collaboration with the Ministry of Justice to develop a best practice guide for professionals when working with indebted former prisoners.
