Dear all,

We are currently advertising for a new member of academic staff to join the Transportation Research Group at the University of Southampton, to fill the post of 'Lecturer in Engineering Economics and Management'.  Experience of economics and management in the context of transport systems is an essential requirement, so this post provides an excellent opportunity for an early career transport researcher or academic looking to develop their career in a friendly and supportive setting.

The Department of Civil, Maritime and Environmental Engineering is a world-renowned centre for education, research and enterprise, which hosts the long-established and multidisciplinary Transportation Research Group. This position represents an exciting opportunity for a talented early career academic to contribute to research, teaching and leadership as part of a friendly and ambitious academic team. The successful candidate will assist in delivering education on high quality courses in Transportation Planning and Engineering and Civil Engineering, and will lead on the development of modules in transport economics (MSc) and engineering project economics and management (4th year undergraduate). They would also contribute economics and management material to an integrated engineering design module (3rd year undergraduate), and could provide input on economics and management to programmes across the School of Engineering. They would supervise 3rd year Individual Projects, 4th year Group Design Projects and MSc Research Projects, as well as supervising PhD students in their field of expertise.

The Department represents the ideal environment and career springboard for early-career academics. Civil Engineering at Southampton consistently ranks highly in the league tables and the MSc Transportation Planning and Engineering programmes attract high quality international students from around the world.

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and continuous improvement of these leading programmes, gaining the chance to develop their educational skills and experience. The department has modern world-class research and teaching facilities and a vibrant 50-strong academic community, within a global top 100 university.  Alongside their teaching activities, the successful candidate will build on the School's research strengths in engineering economics and management, with a particular focus on transportation.

The role will include opportunities for external engagement, and the successful candidate will also gain leadership experience within the School.
