Hello Feminist Academics community,
I am emailing to make you aware of the Day 2 keynote of the upcoming conference, Transnational 'Anti-Gender' Politics and Resistance, on Friday, 23rd February. It will run from 5.30 to 7.30PM and will be followed by a reception. Location details will be released closer to the date of the event to registered participants. Our speakers are Zethu Matebeni (University of Fort Hare) and Jules Gill-Peterson (Johns Hopkins), chaired by Alyosxa Tudor (SOAS).
This panel asks the speakers to reflect on the rise of anti-gender politics in the geo-political contexts that they work within, and the queer, transfeminist and decolonial politics of resistance that accompany them. This keynote panel ends the second (and last) day of the conference taking place at LSE and SOAS. The keynote is completely free and open to the public, so if you are interested please register for a ticket here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/lsedepartmentofgenderstudies/1065394
The conference is the last output of a research network organised by Professors Clare Hemmings and Sumi Madhok, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and LSE Knowledge Exchange and Impact. This research network maps the narrative building blocks – the political grammars, conceptual vocabularies, rhetoric, figures, and temporalities – of both ‘anti-gender ideology’ interventions and the political struggles and solidarities engendered in resistance. You can read more about it here: https://www.lse.ac.uk/gender/research/AHRC/AHRC-home
The daytime conference panels are completely full and we are unable to accommodate a waitlist. However, please do join us for one or both of the keynote lectures. The pre-registration for the Day 1 keynote is full, but more tickets will be released on 14th February by the LSE Events team. I will send another email to alert this mailing list when that happens.
Let me know if you have any questions or issues with registration at [log in to unmask]
Best,
Violet Fox
