Call for Applications: Editor/s at Sibirica: Interdisciplinary Journal of Siberian Studies
Sibirica: International Journal of Siberian Studies seeks applicants from scholars for the editorial role/s beginning mid-2024. Sibirica is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal covering all aspects of the region and its relationships with neighboring areas, such as Central Asia, East Asia, and North America.
The journal publishes articles, research reports, conference and book reviews on history, politics, economics, geography, cultural studies, anthropology, and environmental studies. It provides a forum for scholars representing a wide variety of disciplines from around the world to present findings and discuss topics of relevance to human activities in the region or directly relevant to Siberian studies.
We are seeking a new editor/editorial team to take over duties gradually during 2024 during the production of the second and third issue of the year (The successful candidate would have assistance from the current editor, Jenanne Ferguson, during this period; shadowing of the current editor’s duties would begin in April as Issue 2 is sent to the publisher; the new editor would take on progressively more tasks with Issue 3, due to the publisher in August). Preparation of 2025 issues would be the new editor’s full responsibility.
Editors at Sibirica are unpaid and the editorial role/s is for a period of three years initially, subject to confirmation by the publisher, Berghahn.
Applicants can be from any discipline, but please note that most articles come from Anthropology, History, and Human Geography. Please submit your CV, a short statement of no more than 500 words describing your own work within Siberian studies, your interest in the position, and any relevant background information related to experiences with editing. Any ideas for expanding the aims and scope of the journal can also be included.
