The University of Bolton, School of Health and Society, is seeking to appoint an external examiner for our BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care / BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care (with foundation) /BSc (Hons) Health and Social Care final year top up and HND Health and Social Care programmes at delivered in association with our partner Burnley College.
External examiners play a central role in the maintenance of the standards of the University’s awards and the currency of the curriculum. The duties will include the review of the students’ academic work and attendance at exam boards (may be face to face or virtual). The successful candidate will be required to review samples of student work on modules within the programme, the endorsement of marks to confirm that the marks are an agreed, fully moderated and externally examined set of results; the submission of annual reports; attendance at appropriate boards of examiners and agreement to programme modifications.
The curriculum has been recently revalidated and the successful applicant will be one of two external examiners responsible for reviewing modules that are to be delivered at level 3-6. The post will commence from 04.01.2024
External examiner appointments are typical for a period of four years. Applicants with relevant experience and knowledge of health and social care education are preferred, but support will be provided for those new to the role.
