Patrick, this is not exactly found poetry but I have purloined several of
Iggy Pop’s song lyrics from Search and Destroy to Gimme Danger. His old
band for those who don’t know was The Stooges, a version of which played a
set at the Sydney Opera House quite recently, notwithstanding the Igster’s
advanced age.
Bill
In common with Iggy Pop
I now have a saggy sack arse
but there the resemblance
pretty much ends
I don’t wanna be your dog
am not the world’s forgotten boy
searching to destroy
I am occasionally the Passenger
but when I take a ride
it’s never to see what’s mine
Rather than ripping tops away
to expose a lean and damaged chest
I inhabit neat checked shirts
I’m not bored
don’t have a lust for life
even if I’m happy enough
I don’t dance like a fool
don’t gotta keep movin’ wild
I drive familiar routes
But I do still like to listen
to the Igster in the car
and receive his danger
