Hi Georgia,

We can offer software and test targets, used by organisations such as The National Archives use the Zeutschel OS QM-Tool Software and UTT test charts. Using this system, you can see precisely the quality being created and Metamorfoze, FADGI or ISO are becoming more common in the UK now.

The OS QM-Tool software includes.

Noise according to ISO 15739 and ISO 21550

Measurement as standard deviation in L* or RGB colour space.

Measurement colour channel selective

OECF according to ISO 14525 and ISO 21550

Analysis selectable according to the methods CIE 1976, 1994, 2000, 2000 SL1

In L*a*b* or any RGB target colour space

Measurement of dC, da*b* and dE in the greyscales with separately selectable limits

Measurement of gain modulation

MTF according to ISO 12233 ind ISO 16067-1

MTF 10

MTF 50

Sampling Efficiency

Channel coverage

Maximum modulation

Geometry according to ISO 17850

Ratio of nominal resolution to actual sampling rate

Distortion in percent for X/Y, barrel or pincushion

Colour rendering Delta E according to CIE 15 and ISO 14524

Analysis selectable according to the methods CIE 1976, 1994, 2000, 2000 SL1

Determination of mean dE

Determination of the max. dE

Homogeneity according to ISO 17957

Determination of the deviation from the mean value

Setting of a corridor

Measurement in L* or RGB luminance or colour channel selective

Measurement of the colour gradient over the field ( da*b* over field)

We are holding or second conference that may be of interest, please let me know if this is of interest and I can send you an invitation.

Earlier this year we carried out a conference in London called Digitisation Standards and Quality Management, it was very successful and clients such as The National Archives, V&E Museum, Science Museum, the British Library and many other museums, archives, and universities attended. We are doing it again this time in the Library of Birmingham on 30th November 2023 which will be limited to approximately 30 people.

The main speeches will be based on Metamorfoze, FADGI and ISO 19264, how to create quality as required and how to monitor it, the speech will be by Alexander Sander of Zeutschel in the UK followed by Volker Jansen. Volker is head of design at Zeutschel Germany and Volker studied Photographic Engineering and is one of the Co-Founders of UTT Test Charts and Processes (foundation of ISO standard 19262-19264), a Member of DIN NVBF 2 (Standards Committee Event Technology, Image and Film of the German Institute for Standardization (DIN)) and a Member of ISO/TC42 JWG26 - Digitizing Cultural Heritage Materials (working at standards ISO 19262; 19263, 19264) his speech will be via a video display from Germany. We will have additional speakers that are yet to be confirmed. Our discussions will be on the digitisation of two-dimensional images such as printed matter, technical drawings, manuscripts, maps, photographs, prints, negatives and transparencies. Also colour encoding accuracy, the quality control of digital image performance and example workflow processes will be discussed - all to enable you to consistently create the correct image quality and metadata of the "first file".

Subject: Alternatives to Dalt.ae Service

Dear AHFAP members,

I hope this email finds you all well.

I am the Library Collections Photographer at the Royal Horticultural Society, we have been using the Delt.ae free software for a number of years now to do our image quality assessments before photographing our items and objects from the collection.

With Picturae deciding to shut down the Delt.ae service at the end of December, I have been doing some research into possible alternatives. Delt.ae suggests 3 possibilities of which IQ-Anaylzer seems a likely candidate for our set up. However, I was wondering what other options might be out there, and thought to ask if anyone else is facing the same issue, what they might be looking into as an alternative?

Many thanks in advance, I look forward to hearing any advice and recommendations.

Kind regards,

Georgia
