Green Man Festival wishes to appoint a manager for the Einstein’s Garden science engagement area.
Einstein’s Garden makes and curates creative fusions of science, art and nature. We bring together scientists, arts practitioners and diverse audiences to create playful and inspiring encounters. The area’s venues are packed with a vibrant programme of performances, workshops and installations that use art, creativity and entertainment to engage people with the diverse aspects of science and nature in fun, quirky and unexpected ways.
The Einstein’s Garden Manager is responsible for curating and producing innovative and entertaining science engagement projects, booking and programming entertainment, workshops and science stalls. They are responsible for the planning, management and coordination of the area, liaison with artists, and recruitment and management of crew and volunteers. The area should appeal to adults, young people and children.
This role will suit an event producer who engages with audiences in an impactful and memorable way, with an interest in festivals, science (particularly in relation to health and environmental issues), arts and culture. The successful candidate will be confident and personable, have excellent communication skills, a logical operational attitude and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people and key stakeholders.
Contract Details
Part time contract
Salary - £3,500 fixed fee
Majority of the contract is remote working, but the successful candidate will be required to work on-site during the festival.
Principle Responsibilities
Curating, contracting and producing Einstein’s Garden
Managing performers, staff and volunteers on site at the festival
Overseeing the event build and on-site area management
Administering all aspects of the role
Ensuring Einstein’s Garden is delivered on time and within budget
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
Experience and knowledge of programming/producing events
Experience of dealing with contracts and negotiations
Experience of financial management and budget control
Good project management skills with ability to deliver from concept to final event
Experience of working at contemporary music festivals
Experience and knowledge of science engagement
