Call for Expressions of interest: Symposium on Universities and Climate Change - the contribution of higher education institutions to climate change mitigation and adaptation, as a parallel event to COP28, Wed, 6 Dec 2023, Dubai, United Arab Emirates 

It is widely known that universities can make a significant contribution to efforts to address climate change. The Research and Transfer Centre “Sustainable Development and Climate Change Management” (FTZ-NK) at the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, Germany, has been leading a worldwide movement in this field. 

Apart from  leading a set of publications such as:
2009 - Interdisciplinary Aspects of Climate Change
2010 - Universities and Climate Change – Introducing Climate Change at University Programmes
2017 - Climate Change at Universities: addressing the mitigation and adaptation challenges
2018 - Climate Literacy and Innovations in Climate Change Education- Distance Learning for Sustainable Development
2018 - University Initiatives in Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
2018 - Towards Green Campus Operations: Energy, Climate and Sustainable Development Initiatives at Universities
2020 - Climate Change: the Role of Education

It coordinates the “Universities and Climate Change Initiative”  (UCCI) to which over 60 universities from around the world are contributing. FTZ-NK, together with the International Climate Change Research and Information Programme (ICCIRP), the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme (IUSDRP), European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR) and  the UK Consortium on Sustainability Research, is organising the “Symposium on Universities and Climate Change- the contribution of higher education institutions to climate change mitigation and adaptation”.  The event is hosted by the University of Dubai.
