Johnstons of Elgin is seeking applications for the position of Archivist and Records Manager, who will be responsible for the archives and records provision at one of Scotland’s oldest businesses. 

This is an exciting new role that has been established by the company to manage and develop its archive and records management provision going forward across the business. With over 226 years of history, this is a unique opportunity for a qualified archivist to oversee the company’s records including the development of key policies and procedures, managing collections care, responding to enquiries, and delivering on collections-based projects.  

The successful candidate will have a degree and/or postgraduate qualification, or equivalent experience, in Archives & Records Management, experience of working within a business archive (or with business archive collections), and be a Registered archivist, or enrolled on the professional registration scheme.  

This is a full-time, permanent role (39 hours), with a starting salary of £42,000 dependent on experience. The post holder will be based at the company’s head office in Elgin, Moray, with occasional travel required.
