Dear all,
My design includes 2 groups (experimental and control) and 2 conditions (intuitive and counter-intuitive). Before running the Anova, I did a double-contrast to see if there was any difference (interaction) between my groups and conditions.
My contrast of interest is to see what is more activated in the counter-intuitive condition (CI) versus the intuitive condition (I) for group 1 versus group 2. So here's the result SPM gives me:
However, I can't determine whether this contrast actually presents the direction of the interaction or not. Is this really what is more activated for group 1 for the counter-intuitive condition? Or can't I determine the direction with this result?
I’m in doubt, because when I look at the simple contrasts (e.g. group1CI > group2CI or group1CI > group1I), nothing seems to stand out and, on the contrary, the difference in activation seems to be for the group2I > group2CI contrast. This seems to contradict the double-contrast results. Could you shed some light on this?
Also, why does the matrix sometimes show gray squares, and sometimes black ones? What does this mean?
Many thanks
Jérémie
