Dear colleagues,
In June 2023, Ronald Hartz and I organized a workshop about the current state of academic freedom at the International Critical Management Studies at Nottingham Trent University, UK (see Workshop 9 at https://www.ntu.ac.uk/study-and-courses/academic-schools/nottingham-business-school/nbs-research/13th-international-critical-management-studies-conference2).
In the hope of keeping the momentum of this workshop alive, we are glad to announce the first event of a series of webinars intended to deepen and widen the discussion about current attacks on academic freedom and to ask what needs to be done to confront these threats and to strengthen the principle of academic freedom.
In the first webinar, we will debate specifically the Dutch case. Susanne Täuber, Natalie Scholz and Verena Kämpken will speak about some of the challenges they have faced and the price they have paid while trying to enact their academic freedom within Dutch higher education.
The webinar will take place on the 28th of September at 15:00-16:30 CET.
