The Impact Evaluation Interim Report published as part of the evaluation commissioned by the Towards a National Collection Programme Directorate to assess its impact on cultural institutions is now available. Please see the message below for further details:
Interim findings, covering the period up to 27 July 2023, are published in our Impact Evaluation Interim Report and can now be viewed online: https://zenodo.org/record/8269842
A GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums) sector survey, engagement sessions and secondary analysis produced key findings, providing evidence that:
1. TaNC is advancing partnerships and collaborations between the academic and GLAM sectors
2. TaNC is achieving cross-disciplinary and cross collections research
3. TaNC is helping cultural heritage organisations to be innovative
4. Learnings from TaNC were seen as useful to inform a shared vision and way forward in meaningful digital developments.
The evaluation also highlighted areas of ongoing improvement, and provided valuable feedback on:
1. The wider challenges with digital capacity and capability within the cultural heritage sector
2. The expectation that TaNC would advance policy and strategy discussions at a UK level
3. How TaNC can extend the reach and accessibility of findings
4. How to deliver more effectively on the TaNC objective of ‘benefitting a diverse range of audiences’.
A second phase of this impact evaluation will commence in June 2024, concluding and reporting by end of November 2024.
All best,
Mary
