Dear colleagues 

 

Apologies for the cross-posting. I hope some of you may be interested in
this panel below about sustainable film-making. 

 

Odyssey 2023 officially launched on 26 May. In the following month we will
also be organising different panels which reflect on the theme of “Global
Sustainability”, with guests from both academia and the industry.

 

Odyssey 2023 Panel 1 | Believe in the future: a new take on sustainable
film-making

 

Panel Host: Heather Dong

 

In this panel, guests from the film industry and sustainability
organisations will discuss the integration and issues of film and
sustainability from their own perspectives, highlighting the importance of
sustainability in the film industry and sharing various sustainable
practices that can be implemented in filmmaking. From a filmmaker’s
perspective, the discussion will focus on reducing waste and using
sustainable transport in filmmaking. Experts in sustainable filmmaking will
share how they work with filmmakers and studios to initiate and implement
sustainable practices and the challenges they face in the process.

Itandehui Jansen

Filmmaker

 

Itandehui is a filmmaker from Oaxaca, Mexico. With a passion for
storytelling, she studied film directing at the prestigious Netherlands Film
Academy in Amsterdam. She actively engaged in various international training
programs, including the Binger Film Lab, the Berlinale Talents, and the
Torino Film Lab.

 

Her remarkable films have garnered recognition worldwide at renowned
festivals such as the IDFA (International Documentary Film Festival
Amsterdam), The Morelia International Film Festival, Washington D.C. Shorts,
ZINEBI, and SLAMDANCE. Notably, her work has received numerous international
accolades, and she secured a nomination for the Mexican Film Critics Award
Diosa de Plata.

 

Her feature drama film, “In Times of Rain,” earned her the Award for Best
Emerging Feature Film at the esteemed Oaxaca Film Fest. Currently, Itandehui
shares her expertise and passion by teaching Screenwriting and Directing at
Screen Academy Scotland.

Zsófia Szemerédy

Co-Founder of GreenEyes Production

 

Zsófia‘s love of film has sent me down on a sinuous road. In the past 10
years, She worked for both mainstream and independent film companies in the
UK (eOne, Premier PR, Picturehouse Entertainment). She gained experience in
various fields from PR, Festivals and Markets to Sales, Distribution,
Exhibition and Script Development. After attending the National Film and
Television School She has finally found her passion: combining development
and sustainability and balancing these two in both her work and everyday
life.

Julia Tordai

Co-Founder of GreenEyes Production

Biologist, Science Communicator and Filmmaker

 

Julia is all about pushing boundaries and challenging herself in different
fields of science. She truly believes that combining the disciplines of
science, art, communication, and technology can help to understand our world
and create a better one. She had plenty of projects in the past where
