Chopin's Etudes and the new Peters edition: an introduction and launch
Research event at the Royal Academy of Music (London) this Thursday 8th June, 2.30-4pm in the Museum Piano Gallery.
An event to launch the new Peters critical edition of Chopin's Op. 10 Etudes, along with its companion volume of the Trois Nouvelles Etudes.
Academy Keyboard Research Fellow and pianist Roy Howat will explore how Chopin intended his Etudes to be used, studied and played, and illustrate the source quandaries and discoveries encountered in the course of editing them for the Peters Edition New Complete Chopin. The session will highlight important corrections and variants published here for the first time, exploring what they reveal about Chopin's musical and pedagogic intentions for the pieces.
