Deadline on Friday.
A position on the RMA Study Group Music and/as Process committee will become available following our conference this summer.
The Study Group’s work focuses on issues related to and arising from definitions of process as applied to contemporary music, experimental music, improvisation and improvisatory practices, ‘early’ (pre-tonal and medieval) musics, non-western music, and music which is understood through practice and practice-led approaches.
We work to create opportunities for composers, performers and musicologists to present their work, discuss ideas, and contribute to the dissemination of practice-based research through documentation and publications.
Alongside this, we are interested in helping people gain experience within the world of academia and research - organising conferences and study days, participating in peer review, and chairing conference sessions.
Different people on the committee have responsibility for the coordination and communication of certain parts of our work, but we all contribute to everything that we do. How much time and effort committee members can contribute to the Study Group varies during the year, due to work, family and personal reasons.
The Study Group would like to diversify representation on the committee, and we therefore particularly welcome applications from those who do not identify as male, and / or are of ethnic and cultural backgrounds other than white British.
If you are interested in being considered for the position, please send a CV and supporting statement (not more than 1000 words) outlining what you believe you could bring to the Study Group’s work.
Applications to: [log in to unmask]
Deadline: 23:59 (London time) on June 2nd 2023
It is the Study Group’s aim to announce the new member of the committee as part of their conference at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire this summer.
Many thanks, and with my very best,
Steve
Dr Steve Gisby - Chair of the RMA Study Group Music and/as Process
