Call for Papers: "World Symposium on Climate Change Policies: Science and Technology in Support of Policy-Making in Climate
Change Mitigation and Adaptation", Manchester, UK -On-line, 19th September 2023
Background
Climate change policies are important tools in supporting the legislative and executive branches in promoting conditions for assertive action to advances the climate agenda. Sound policies are essential for the implementation of climate change mitigation and adaptation strategies. But even though climate change
policies are a vital component for the implementation of climate action, including the implementation of SDG13, there is a perceived need to have in-depth discussions on how best they may designed, and implemented.
Against this background, the UK Consortium for Sustainability Research (UK-CSR), Ecology and Environment Research Centre
https://www.mmu.ac.uk/research/research-centres/ecology-environment at Manchester Metropolitan University,
the Research and Transfer Centre "Sustainable Development and Climate Change Management"https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/ at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences, and the International Climate Change Information and Research Programme https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/programmes/iccirp/, in cooperation with various universities and research
organisations, are organising the "World Symposium on Climate Change Policies: Science and Technology in Support of Policy-Making in Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation". The event will be held on-line on 19th September 2023.
Documentation of the Symposium
As an output and long-term documentation of the event, selected papers will be published in the book
Climate Change Policies: Science and Technology in Support of Policy-Making in Climate
Change Mitigation and Adaptation", which will follow the success of the "Handbook of Climate
Change Resilience"https://link.springer.com/referencework/10.1007/978-3-319-93336-8 and "Handbook of Climate Change Management" https://link.springer.com/referencework/10.1007/978-3-030-57281-5 which, with 6 volumes and over 500 authors, is the largest non-publicly funded editorial project on climate change ever undertaken.
The book will be published as part of the Climate Change Management Serieshttps://www.springer.com/series/8740,
which is the leading peer-reviewed book series on matters related to climate change Over 3.000 authors
from across all geographical regions have contributed to the series to date. The peer-reviewed nature of
the series, which is fully indexed, means that publications have counted over the years for promotion and tenure purposes.
Abstracts now welcome
We are now calling for abstracts, which consist of a 200 words outline of the paper, along with
the names and full contact details of the authors. Abstracts should be sent to the coordinating team at: <[log in to unmask]>
The deadline for submission of abstracts is is 30th May 2023. Full papers are due by 30th August 2023. Further
details will be discussed with the authors whose abstracts have been accepted.
