Sorry for x-posting and for the short deadline, but please get in touch if you'd like to submit a brief contribution to a hybrid ICHO roundtable to be submitted to the ASLE UKI conference (Liverpool/remotely, see more here: https://asle.org.uk/events/liverpool-2023/), cfp deadline is 31 May for conference deadline of 1 June.

“Green & Blue Transitions: Thinking with the Ocean and Marine Sciences Trans-Disciplinarily and Trans-gressively” 

Scholars and artists are invited to submit a brief contribution abstract for a hybrid roundtable to be submitted for the 2023 ASLE-UKI Conference on “Transitions”.

This roundtable, organized by Alison Glassie and Giulia Champion, invites scholars and artists thinking through and working on the role of the ocean and marine sciences and their histories in the context of decarbonization and transitionary times. Contributions are sought on thinking trans-disciplinarily with the ocean across different contexts.

The contributions are expected to be roughly 5-7 minutes. Questions and topics addressed include, but are not limited to:

-	What are oceanic transitions?
-	What is are oceanographic and oceanic studies transition?
-	What is the role of the ocean in thinking through transition?
-	Thinking with the ocean and transitionary times.
-	The role of the ocean in green transitions and decarbonisation movements.
-	Oceanic transgressions.
-	Colonial and Decolonial Transitions in the oceanic thinking and/or marine sciences.
-	Unlearning Colonial episteme in Oceanographic studies and marine sciences.
-	Oceano-graphic transitions and/or transgressions.
-	Trans-disciplinary oceanic studies.
-	Thinking differently through oceanic eco-criticism.
-	Oceanic (trans-gressive) aesthetics. 
-	Ocean and Environmental Justice.

The organizers anticipate seeking panel sponsorship from the International Commission of the History of Oceanography.

Please note that presenters will need to purchase the ASLE-UKI membership and will have to pay registration fees, which differ depending on in-person or remote participation and career stage. 

Please submit a 150-words contribution abstract with a brief 200-words biography with preferred pronouns by Wednesday 31st May (end of day in your timezone) so the roundtable proposal can be submitted to ASLE-UKI for the conference abstract deadline of 1st June.
