Dear Colleagues,
The Centre for the GeoHumanities would like to invite you to the 6th Denis Cosgrove Lecture given by Professor Stephen Daniels on 6th June at 6pm on Royal Holloway, University of London's Egham Campus. The lecture will be available online in due course on the Centre's website.
The lecture entitled 'Landscapes in the Making: John Linnell and the Environs of London' explores views of landscapes in the process of excavation, construction and cultivation, on the edge of early nineteenth century London. The lecture focusses on meanings of such landscapes in the graphic art of John Linnell (1792-1882). It asks, what wider material and imaginative worlds are envisioned in these art works? How do they relate to longer histories of landscape formation?
