Hello,
On behalf of the Fairwork project at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford I invite you to attend the launch of this year’s Fairwork UK ratings. The launch event will take place in-person on Friday, 28 April from 14.00 to 17.00 BST at Newspeak House (with a livestream for those who cannot attend in-person).
This year’s report ‘Fairwork UK Ratings 2023: A Call for Transparency’ evaluates working conditions at 15 of the most popular digital labour platforms in the country, including Uber, Deliveroo and Getir. Our findings reveal that there are significant shifts underway in the platform economy in the wake of a cost-of-living crisis, a tech financial collapse, and the alleviation of COVID-19 restrictions. Whilst the pandemic may have been halcyon days for platform companies, reality is starting to bite. We’ll be asking whether workers are left paying the price...
During the event, the lead researchers of the report, Dr. Adam Badger and Dr. Funda Ustek-Spilda, will present the main findings. This will be followed by an expert panel (made up of academics, union leaders, and policymakers) discussion about the situation of platform workers in the UK. Following the panel, attendees will be able to provide their opinion and ask questions about the report at a live audience Q&A, and have an opportunity to network.
Please register at: www.fair.work/uk-launch
A livestream link will also be available for those who cannot attend online. Please register to receive the link and early access to the report. You can see our previous rounds of scoring here. We very much look forward to seeing you at the event on Friday!
Best wishes,
Matt
