Hello!
OK, so we're at the point of the OA transition where we're about to announce to faculty that they will have to change their Moodle links to the Athenized ones.
I know that Moodle can do some kind of automation of the existing proxied links (we use EZProxy) to Athenized links, but I'm really fuzzy on how that works, or even how to ask them to do it. That's because there's different considerations for different links. For example, the EBSCO and Gale links apparently just need the EZProxy prefix stripped, but then they also need to have certain parameters added which is fussy. Then there are the other links that are fully Athenized with the Open Athens prefix. And THEN there are other "special" links like those seen here (https://library.indwes.edu/c.php?g=1135133&p=8316346) where certain characters have to be added to the URLS.
It just seems like a rat's nest, and something that would be hard to automate by a company like Moodle. And yet I was told by the implementation manager that customers commonly request Moodle to clean up links in professors' class pages for them.
Does anybody have experience with this?
Thanks!
