Dear Colleagues,

Call for Associate Editors: "Handbook of Sustainable Blue Economy"

The global blue economy is an important part of the world’s economy, providing jobs and resources to billions of
people around the world. However, it currently faces a number of challenges, from overfishing and pollution to
climate change and ocean acidification. In order to ensure a sustainable future for the blue economy, there is a need to
develop strategies and policies that promote the conservation and responsible use of marine resources, while also
providing economic benefits. There is, in other words, a perceived need to make the blue economy more sustainable.

It is against this background that the Handbook "Sustainable Blue Economy" is being produced by the
Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme (IUSDRP) https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/programmes/iusdrp/, European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR) https://esssr.eu/ and the UK Consortium
on Sustainability Research https://www.mmu.ac.uk/research/research-centres/ecology-environment/groups/zero-carbon-sustainable-futures/UK-CSR.

It follows the success of previous handbooks such as the
Handbook of Sustainability Science and Research (2018)
https://link.springer.com/book/10.1007/978-3-319-63007-6
Encyclopedia of the UN SDGs (2021-2022)
https://www.springer.com/series/15893
and more recently, the "Handbook of Sustainability Science in the Future"
https://link.springer.com/referencework/10.1007/978-3-030-68074-9

It will be published by Springer Nature, as part of the World Sustainability Series, the world´s
leading peer-reviewed book series on sustainable development:
https://www.springer.com/series/13384.

The "Handbook of Sustainable Blue Economy" will provide an invaluable resource for policy-makers,
business leaders, and other stakeholders, offering guidance on how to create a more sustainable and prosperous blue economy.

The editorial team is calling for expressions of interest from
colleagues who may wish to support this project by acting as Associate Editors. This is a honorary,
i.e. non-paid position, but entails a wide visibility since the names of the Associate Editors
will appear in the second cover of the publication, as well as on the
on-line version, which they will be able to access free of any charges.
This is a nice addition to one´s CV.

The tasks of the Associate Editors are:

1. to assist with the on-line review of up to 10 papers (each paper needs
to be reviewed by 2 experts)
2. help us to identify suitable authors (among your contacts/colleagues)
who may then write a chapter. Each author will get full details on the
requirements on papers
3. help to promote the project

Those colleagues who think may be able to take advantage of this opportunity and
act as Associate Editors of the "Handbook of Sustainable Blue Economy",
should send the following details:

Name:
Organisation:
Country:
E-mail:

to: <[log in to unmask]> by 20th April 2023. Further details will be discussed with
the selected experts.

Rgds,
The Editorial Team
