Hi Peter
If you have the option and the time, I would go for an MP2RAGE sequence instead. The default product parameters are inversion times of 700ms and 2500ms and flipangles 4 and 5 degrees. The only thing I would change from the defaults in the product sequence would be the resolution, go for 0,9mm isotropic, the number of slices 192, and enable partial fourier in the phase encoding direction. This should give you quantitative T1 weighted images, which can be converted into R1 maps, and which at 3T is almost free of B1+/- inhomogeneities. If you are unhappy with the noise level in MP2RAGE images, noise can seamlessly, and in a continuous manner, be converted into B1 bias instead. You will find tools for various MP2RAGE operations here: https://github.com/JosePMarques/MP2RAGE-related-scripts
