The Medieval Settlement Research Group (MSRG*) (https://lnkd.in/ei-cHQGj) is running the last of four seminars on the impact of major infrastructure development on medieval rural settlements across Europe on Saturday 25th March 2023 10am-1pm (UK GMT). This FREE ONLINE seminar looks at Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary and Poland. Register at https://lnkd.in/eZXzF3Hw
All four seminars are looking at impact of large infrastructure projects on medieval settlement, across 16 European states, in terms of both (a) the threat such developments pose and (b) the advancement of knowledge and understanding achieved by investigations in advance of these developments. The first seminar (April 2021) covered Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England; the second (October 2021) Belgium, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Germany; the third (October 2022) Spain, France, Italy and Croatia. All the papers, plus the panel discussions, can be viewed online at at https://lnkd.in/eBYitQQi.
The four papers on 25th March 2023 will be given by Zdravko Dimitrov (Bulgaria), Claudia Theune (Austria), Tibor Rácz/Edit Sárosi (Hungary) and Paweł Duma (Poland), followed by panel comment/discussion and questions from the online audience.
It has been a very interesting series of seminars with excellent papers and discussions highlighting key challenges, but also inspiring examples of best practice. MSRG aims to publish the papers to provide inspiration for archaeologists, medieval scholars and mangers and policy makers in heritage sectors across Europe.
Free to register at https://lnkd.in/eZXzF3Hw - open to all interested in medieval settlements or infrastructure archaeology
