Dear Critters,
A quick note to say that the feature length documentary film, From Below (2022), is now viewable online for free here: https://mutualaid.uk/feature-film/
It is a film about mutual aid and community responses to COVID-19 in England, using a case study approach (featuring Burnley, Newcastle, Nelson, Guildford, London and Rural Yorkshire). It speaks to the current cost of living crisis too, tells of the horrors of austerity, but also offers glimmers of hope of how communities can work together for real change.
The film is directed by Dr Matthias Kispert, and was part of a research project funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council & led by Royal Holloway, University of London, and the University of Huddersfield. You can learn more about the project here: https://mutualaid.uk/. There are still screenings being organised around the UK, so keep your eyes peeled on social media.
Please feel free to share, screen and discuss!
In solidarity,
--
