Dear Colleagues,
Invitation to Contribute to a New Book: "Digital Technologies to Implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals"
The Research and Transfer Centre "Sustainable Development and Climate Change Management" is a world
leader in matters related to sustainability research. It has produced some ground-breaking publications on
sustainable development as part of the World Sustainability Series https://www.springer.com/series/13384
to which over 3.000 authors have contributed to date. Together with the Inter-University Sustainable Development
Research Programme https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/programmes/iusdrp/, the European School of Sustainability Science and Research https://esssr.eu/,
and the UK Consortium on Sustainability Research https://www.mmu.ac.uk/research/research-centres/ecology-environment/groups/zero-carbon-sustainable-futures/UK-CSR,
the Centre is producing a new book, to which expressions of interest are now invited.
The new book project is titled "Digital Technologies to Implement the UN Sustainable Development Goals".
The book will explore some promising areas, which include, but are not limited to the following topics:
1. Universal Access to the Internet: Providing universal access to the internet is essential to achieving
the UN Sustainable Development Goals. It allows people to access vital services such as healthcare, financial
services, and education. It also allows people to participate in the global economy and have their voices
heard in the political process.
2. Big Data Analysis: Big data analysis can help to identify areas of potential improvement and to track
progress towards the SDGs. It can be used to identify areas that need additional resources and to measure
the impact of investments in areas such as health, education, and environmental protection.
3. Artificial Intelligence: Artificial intelligence can be used to automate many processes, making them more efficient
and cost-effective. AI can be used to automate processes such as data collection and analysis, helping to
reduce costs and improve accuracy. It can also be used to identify patterns and trends, helping to inform policy decisions.
4. Cloud Computing: Cloud computing is essential for the effective implementation of the SDGs. It allows organizations to
store and access data securely and cost-effectively. It also allows them to access computing power and data storage on demand.
5. Internet of Things: The internet of things (IoT) can be used to facilitate the collection and analysis of
data from millions of connected devices, IoT can facilitate better decision-making, optimize resources, and
improve the efficiency and effectiveness of delivery of services.
We are also interested to explore other areas and welcome suggestions from potential authors.
Expressions of interest to contribute to the book, initially consisting of a 200 words abstract outlining the paper and with
the full contact details of the author(s) should be sent to the editorial team at: [log in to unmask]
The deadline for abstracts is 30th May 2023. Full papers are due by 30th October 2023.
Rgds,
The Project Team
