Dear friends all around,
I am a musicology master student from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul, Turkey. My name is Ozan Boyraz and I am working on my finishing thesis. My subject focuses on some holdings (an archive mostly textual) of a Turkish (one of the students of Turkish Fives) composer/professor. His name is Cengiz Tanç. Archive includes newspaper cuts, writings, notes, letters, recordings etc. The main expectation of my department is to reveal something from this archive which is an important primary source and also has been waiting so long (from 1997). But I am wishing to prepare a more current and scientific project and use opportunities on Digital Musicology. My application for the Scientific Research Project has been accepted by the University committee. They are also excited about the idea and if I finish this project successfully they will fund me for a larger project.
So, I have been searching about Digital Humanities subjects, examples, tools, softwares, websites of other projects to have idea etc.. and decided to join forums and mailing lists, reach people in a way. I am starting to learn XML, practice about TEI and its application (I have already create some examples with OxygenXML), and also search MEI for scores but sometimes feel the need for someone with experience.
Please help me with further questions about TEI or MEI? How can I learn more? Maybe I can be a part of classes you know or get private lessons online around.
Thank you all
Best wishes
Ozan
