The Centre for Care invites applications for fully-funded full-time or part-time PhD study from candidates with a demonstrable interest in understanding and researching social care to apply for our fully-funded PhD studentships. Successful applicants will be integrated into the Centre for Care and will spend 1 day a week on Centre-wide and impact activities, and the remainder of their time working on their PhD, attached to the applicable Centre for Care research team.
We believe that a diverse and supportive environment, bringing varied perspectives to our work and allowing people to blossom, is the best platform for excellent research. We actively encourage applications from those who share these values, and we especially welcome applications from disabled people and individuals with Black, Asian and Minoritised Ethnic and Refugee backgrounds.
Successful applicants will have their own designated supervisory team plus access to the Centre for Care’s broad range of substantive, methodological and database experts. The PhD research will involve contact with key stakeholder groups (policymakers, practitioners and government departments) working with the Centre for Care, including Carers UK, the National Children’s Bureau, the Office for National Statistics, and the Social Care Institute for Excellence.
