Dear colleagues,
The Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Management Group at the Department of Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen are proposing a panel for the 7th Nordic Development Research Conference 2023, to be held August 21-23 in Uppsala, Sweden.
The panel theme is “Theorizing sustainable transition in the Global South”.
The complexity of sustainable transition (ST) in the Global South is often analysed with concepts such as the Multilevel Perspective, Strategic Niche Management and Transition Management developed in the Global North. In this panel, we consider whether they are directly applicable in the Global South or if they have a more limited explanatory power here due to essential social, political, economic and ecological differences between North and South societies. In that case, we aim to engage in a discussion at the more fundamental level about the basic ontological assumptions of the dominant ST theorizing and deliberate over new and innovative theoretical approaches for grasping more accurately the nature of ST process in Global South settings.
We are delighted to be collaborating with colleagues from the Danish Technical University (DTU), Copenhagen Business School (CBS) and Lund University (LU) to co-deliver the panel sessions around this theme.
We hope that this panel will be of interest to our members. If you would like to contribute and be involved, please send an abstract by the 1st of March through the conference submission portal. Please feel free to circulate this call with your networks.
Further information on the 7th Nordic Development Research Conference is available through the conference website: https://www.nordev2023.se/.
We look forward to receiving your abstract.
With best wishes,
Carsten Nico Hjortsø & Teis Hansen
