Conceptual Anthropology
Dear colleague and friend,
What is conceptual anthropology? It is the new field of research on
the spirit of culture, uniting the arts, beliefs, traditions, fashions
and other ethic and esthetic, intellectual and spiritual expressions.
A detailed description of its origin and goals appears in EXPRESSION
journal (38, pp. 68-73).
Man is made not only of molecules and statistics, but also of
feelings, hopes, emotions, apprehensions, ambitions, pleasures, and
griefs. These expressions of the human soul are both causes and
effects of behavioral patterns, which is what the new discipline is
concerned with.
Conceptual anthropology researches the concepts and motivations of
cultural expressions brought to light by archeology, anthropology,
art, religion, customs, social patterns, popular traditions, and other
aspects of human habits and the humanistic sciences.
This immense emporium reveals the behavioral patterns of man and
society, providing knowledge of their rational and irrational
thoughts, notions, motivations, and actions.
ATELIER research center is a laboratory dedicated to conceptual
anthropology. With the contributions of 250 authors from 50 countries,
in 9 years it has published 64 books and 38 issues of EXPRESSION, a
quarterly journal in conceptual anthropology,
EXPRESSION journal, which reaches readers in over 85 countries,
together with the editions of ATELIER are expressions of this new
discipline that involves students, scholars, and thinkers from five
continents. Knowing who we are helps us to better understand each
other, better communicate, and bettert coexist.
EXPRESSION journal comes out in English, the most commonly read
language in 85 countries. The books, in Italian, English and French,
are conceived for the level of university students. They are easy to
read and show everyone the problems and topics often reserved for
insiders.
You may read a book listed in the Atelier catalog, or an issue of
