Dear Volkmar,
thank you very much for your hints. I (don't think I) have changed anything in preprocessing across participants. The problem is not much between 64-22-003_1 and 64-22-002_1 (where the differences are below 10⁻4 which SPM seems to accept) but between e.g. 64-22-002_1 and 64-22-301_1. while preprocessing was the same, images were obtained with two scanners. one scanner was used for participants 64-22-3??_? and one other was used for participants 64-22-[0,1]??_?. since problematic scans all belong to 64-22-3??_? participants, this made me think that I was innocent ( ;-) ) and the world is conspiring against me ( ;-) ).
But you are giving me nice hints to investigate and a workaround. Thank you very much for this.
Fabio
