Dear Colleagues,
Call for Papers for a New Book- "Indigenous and Local Knowledge in Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Development: Trends and Best Practice" (Edited by Walter Leal Filho, Marcellus Mbah, Sandra Ajaps)
Indigenous and traditional knowledge (ILK) is age-old and has been successfully deployed in a variety of occasions. The combination of well-tested practices, which have been improved over very long periods of time, and knowledge of the connections between nature and man-made practices, has led to improved connections and interactions between mankind and nature, and the use of natural resources.
There has been, and there still is a perceived need to document and promote experiences related to the use of ILK, in support of climate change adaptation, and in fostering sustainable development. Some recent works in this field are:

https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/dpr.12664
https://doi.org/10.1016/j.envsci.2022.06.004.
But despite the importance of this topic, there is a paucity of publications that relate to ILK and the nexus of climate change-sustainable development.
Against this background, the book "Indigenous and Local Knowledge in Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Development: Trends and Best Practice" is now being prepared by the International Climate Change Information and Research Programme (ICCIRP) https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/programmes/iccirp/ and the European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR) https://esssr.eu/, the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/programmes/iusdrp/ and the UK Consortium for Sustainability Research (UK-CSR) https://www.mmu.ac.uk/research/research-centres/ecology-environment/groups/zero-carbon-sustainable-futures/UK-CSR.
The book "Indigenous and Local Knowledge in Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable Development: Trends and Best Practice" will be published by Springer, as part of the world´s leading, peer-reviewed book series on climate change management: https://www.springer.com/series/8740. The series is indexed in Scopus and because it is peer-reviewed, the accepted papers usually count for promotion and tenure purposes.
Expressions of interest to contribute to the book, initially consisting of a 200-words abstract and the full contact details of the authors, should be sent to the Editorial Team at: [log in to unmask]
The deadline for the submission of abstracts is 30th March 2023. Full papers are due by 30th June 2023. The details will be discussed with the authors, whose abstracts have been accepted.
Rgds,
The Editorial Team
