We have an open fully funded PhD position in swarm robotics at the
University of Konstanz, Germany
This is your great opportunity to join one of the best research
environments for collective behavior!
The successful applicant will join the Cyber-physical Systems research
group (https://www.cps.uni-konstanz.de/) at the University of Konstanz.
The working language is English. In the Cyber-physical Systems research
group at the University of Konstanz, we study collective behavior in
robot swarms and biohybrid systems of living organisms (e.g., natural
plants, humans) tightly coupled with autonomous systems. Our current
focus is especially on novel methods to implement collective behavior in
robot swarms (evolutionary swarm robotics, machine learning),
mathematical modeling of swarms (e.g., system scalability), and hardware
development/platform extensions of swarm robot hardware (groups of
indoor/outdoor mobile robots). As a member of our team, you will have
the opportunity to contribute to modern research in robotics, to work in
one of the best research environments for collective behavior, and to
interact with the global research community.
The University of Konstanz is one of eleven Universities of Excellence
in Germany. Since 2007 it has been successful in the German Excellence
Initiative and its follow-up program, the Excellence Strategy.
The start date is April 1st, 2023 or earlier by agreement. The position
is initially available for three years. In principle, this position can
be divided into two part-time positions.
