Dear BAMS members,
Our mission to decenter the study of the avant-garde brought forth the 4-volume reference work, now completed, A Cultural History of the Avant-Garde in the Nordic Countries (www.brill.com/display/title/38041).
The first three volumes are available now in paperback.
These volumes explore the influence of the avant-garde within the cultural and political context of the Nordic countries.
The volume is published in Avant-Garde Critical Studies (www.brill.com/AGCS). Founded in 1987, it is the only interdisciplinary series focusing on the avant-garde combining arts, architecture, and more.
Brill’s dedication to the topic of avant-garde is worth exploring, as it has brought forward the Journal of Avant-Garde Studies (www.brill.com/view/journals/jags/jags-overview.xml?language=en). The first volume out and published Open Access. Following the example of the Nordic avant-garde, there is even a forthcoming Companion Series (www.brill.com/page/2451?language=en) in the works to map other understudied transnational areas.
Would you like to be a part of Brill’s avant-garde program and contribute with your perspective?
Authors are warmly invited to submit their book proposals, article proposals and more to the Senior Acquisitions Editor at Brill, Masja Horn ([log in to unmask]).
