The Live House of Commons collection on BoB
In recent years Learning on Screen has been curating the Live House of Commons collection on BoB. Parliamentary sessions broadcast on the BBC Parliament channel are linked from their BoB entry directly to the relevant Hansard transcript, allowing users immediate access to the day's entire proceedings as recorded in the official written ledger. The collection consists of over 500 individual transmissions of parliamentary sessions from January 2019 to October 2022.
Whilst work in the House of Commons during this period has been dominated by the changes of Prime Minister (Theresa May’s departure, Boris Johnson’s premiership and resignation, Liz Truss’s tenure) major issues debated have included: the mourning of Queen Elizabeth II, EU Withdrawal Agreement, Covid-19 pandemic, online safety, NHS, mental health, crime, schools, taxation, tourism industry, defence, climate change, employment, pensions, football, Hong Kong, Afghanistan and Ukraine.
To access the collection simply log on to BoB (https://learningonscreen.ac.uk/ondemand) and select a relevant parliamentary session from the BBC Parliament channel. Researchers wishing to utilise and develop the resource as part of a research project are invited to discuss the possibilities for collaborating with Learning on Screen as a formal industry partner with Dr Gil Toffell at [log in to unmask]
