Dear Meccsa,
You are all cordially invited to screening of a new documentary film, "From Below", directed by Matthias Kispert, and stemming from the research conducted for an AHRC-funded project around mutual aid (details: https://mutualaid.uk/)
The film focuses on a few select towns & cities across England, and showcases the voices of those who set up, organised and managed mutual aid and volunteer networks during covid-19. But also, how they are continuing to work in the 'depressingly seamless' move from the crisis of the pandemic, to the cost of living.
The premier (without the red carpet and limos, sorry) is in London on 15 November, but there are screenings throughout November in Hull, Liverpool, Guildford, Newcastle, Pendle and Marsden. Details for all the screenings, and links to sites where you get tickets (on a pay-what-you-feel basis with all proceeds going to the mutual aid groups in the city) can be found (along with the trailer) at https://mutualaid.uk/feature-film/
More screenings are being organised (and will be posted on the website as and when they're announced), but if you would like to set one up, please do just get in touch.
In solidarity,
Oli
