Hi all
I hope you don't mind me sharing a small project I've been working on. Did you know over half of UK adults aged over 16 play games and play them online (OFCOM stats)? With this as our inspiration, we have been working on a project with the online video game Occupy White Walls (OWW) and local artists.
OWW is the game in which people build galleries, collect art and curate their own exhibitions. https://www.oww.io/ You may remember we teamed up with them last year to add some of Birmingham Museums artworks to the game. You can now also stream audio into the game via soundcloud, and we had the idea of creating a festival of music and poetry in the game. We were successful in applying to R&D funding from The Space, and got artist Rosa Francesca on board as our creative producer. We wanted to ensure that the artist involved would reflect the diversity of Birmingham, and she has put together a fantastic line up of local artists: musician Ace Ambrose, moving image artist DeāAnne Crooks, musician Dorcha, poet Jasmine Gardosi, new media artist Antonio Roberts and mixed-media poet Samiir Saunders.
The "gallery" that has been created for this looks like an area of Birmingham called Digbeth, and if you play the game you can find it by searching for Brum. We were confident that it would be popular with players of the game, but we also wanted to promote it to non-players. We got twitch influencers Blue & Queenie on board to stream the game. The first time was last Tuesday, and it is happening again at 8pm tonight if you'd like to watch. There is no need to login or download anything to watch on Twitch.

You can also see a walk through of what has been created on Youtube.

Happy to answer any questions if you'd like to find out more!
